WHAT IS PIYO?
PiYo is a 60-day high intensity, low impact workout that uses your body to sculpt your body! All you need is a yoga mat but don’t go thinking that you’ll be on the floor the whole time either. This workout is an awesome combination of strength and flexibility, all without placing a ton of stress on your joints. I would describe it as a mix of the best moves from your favorite pilates and yoga classes set to upbeat music and a nice flow pace. Throughout the program, Chalene encourages you to stop worrying about perfecting the moves and start focusing on where your body needs the most attention. The perfectionist in me needs this reminder! 😉
I have completed 2 full rounds of the PiYo program and each time I’ve done it, I’ve seen a ton of improvement to my flexibility and developed great core strength. It’s also a nice reprieve from the high intensity workouts I usually do. So if I’m noticing that my body is starting to ache more than normal or that some back pain is creeping up, this is my go-to program to stay on track while giving my joints a bit of a break from the pounding.
The workout calendar lays out a fitness plan for you so all you have to do is check in each day and press play! Also included with your workout is the Get Lean Eating Plan. WHO CAN DO THIS PROGRAM?
Anyone can do PiYo! Chalene is a great instructor who describes the moves start to finish and as with all of our programs there is a modifier to help adapt the moves to your current fitness level. This is both a great starting place and way to continue your current health and fitness journey in a way that elongates your muscles while keeping you undeniably strong without any jumping or heaving lifting. You’ll be doing this PiYo Flip in no time!
